Paediatric First Aid 12 Hours

Paediatric First Aid Training Course - 2 Days equivalent (12 hours classroom training as per the regulations)

Essential for those working in schools and nurseries as well as for play centre staff and childminders, anyone who may encounter first aid situations, illnesses, injuries and emergencies which can arise when looking after children.

It’s one thing attending a course, it’s another thing when you enjoy it! We are not your average slide show trainers, our courses are designed to be interactive and for all skill levels, learning styles and abilities.

The course is in line with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and meets the requirements of Ofsted.

Who should attend
Childminders, Nursery and School staff (dealing with Early Years Foundation Stage), and anybody who interacts with children . Parents, grandparents or any other relative looking after children that would like to have a full knowledge of first aid for babies and children.

Course outline
Course content provides learners with the knowledge to:

• Be able to assess an emergency situation and prioritise what action to take
• Help a baby or child who is unresponsive and breathing normally
• Help a baby or child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally
• Help a baby or child who is having a seizure
• Help a baby or child who is choking
• Help a baby or child who is bleeding
• Help a baby or child who is suffering from shock caused by severe blood loss (hypovolemic shock)
• Help a baby or child who is suffering from anaphylactic shock
• Help a baby or child who has had an electric shock
• Help a baby or child who has burns or scalds
• Help a baby or child who has a suspected fracture
• Help a baby or child with head, neck or back injuries
• Help a baby or child who is suspected of being poisoned
• Help a baby or child with a foreign body in eyes, ears or nose
• Help a baby or child with an eye injury
• Help a baby or child with a bite or sting
• Help a baby or child who is suffering from the effects of extreme heat or cold
• Help a baby or child having: a diabetic emergency; an asthma attack; an allergic reaction; meningitis; and/or febrile convulsions
• Understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider (including appropriate contents of a first aid box and the need for recording accidents and incidents)
  
  Course Duration
  2 Days  (12 hours training as per the regulations, 6 hours classroom and 6 hours online)
  
  Assessment & Certification
  The course takes place over twelve hours, and will include both theory and practical sessions.
  Paediatric first aid certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment and a multiple choice test. Those delegates who complete the course will be deemed to have reached the required standard and will be awarded a certificate from the awarding body valid for three years, after which time you will need to renew your certification
