Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training
The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is a recognised qualification that is designed for those working or wishing to work as teachers within an educational setting. You will gain further knowledge on aspects of planning, delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and learning. The Level 5 Diploma is for those who want to become fully qualified as a further education teacher. DET courses are also suitable for trainers and tutors working in adult and community learning or work-based training within public, private, voluntary or community organisations.
How the course runs….
Once payment is made, you will be emailed some start-up documentation to read and sign. As soon as we have your start-up paperwork email it back to us you will be sent your theory work. Once completed, we will book you some shadowing sessions and you will also require 100 hours of teaching hours to run along with this course.
The trainee teacher must be able to provide evidence of a minimum of one (1) assessed observations of practice that meet the required standard of practice

Course content
Theories, Principles and Models in Education and Training (ET501):

- This unit focuses on the principles and practices of teaching, learning and assessment in the education and training sector.
- You will develop skills in planning, delivering and evaluating teaching sessions, incorporating diverse teaching methods and assessment strategies.
- Topics cover lesson planning, instructional techniques, assessment methods, feedback provision and adapting teaching approaches to meet learner needs.
Developing Teaching, Learning and Assessment in Education and Training (ET502):
- This unit builds on previous learning to further develop teaching, learning and assessment skills within the education and training context.
- You will explore advanced instructional strategies, assessment design principles and methods for promoting learner engagement and achievement.
- Topics include innovative teaching approaches, formative and summative assessment techniques, inclusive practices and reflective teaching methodologies.
Professional Practice in Education and Training (ET503):
- This unit focuses on the professional responsibilities and duties of educators and trainers.
- You will examine ethical considerations, legislative requirements, professional standards and the importance of continuous professional development (CPD).
- Topics include maintaining professionalism, safeguarding learners, promoting equality and diversity and engaging in reflective practice.
Developing, Using and Organising Resources in a Specialist Area (ET505):
- This unit explores strategies for developing, utilising and organising resources effectively within a specialist area of education and training.
- You will learn to identify, evaluate and adapt resources to support teaching and learning objectives.
- Topics include sourcing educational materials, using technology-enhanced learning tools, managing resource repositories and ensuring accessibility for diverse learners.
Develop and Prepare Resources for Learning and Development (ET408):
- This unit focuses specifically on the process of creating and preparing resources to support learning and development activities.
- You will develop skills in designing, producing, and evaluating instructional materials, including digital resources, handouts, presentations and multimedia content.
- Topics include instructional design principles, media selection criteria, copyright considerations and quality assurance processes.
Inclusive Practice (ET409):
- This unit explores the concept of inclusive practice and its importance in creating supportive learning environments.
- You will examine strategies for promoting equality, diversity and inclusion within educational settings.
- Topics cover understanding diverse learner needs, adapting teaching approaches, creating accessible learning materials and fostering an inclusive classroom culture.
