Body Massage

The body massage course provides comprehensive training in various massage techniques. You will learn anatomy and physiology relevant to massage, client consultation and communication skills. Through hands-on practice and theoretical learning, students develop proficiency in providing therapeutic and relaxing massages to promote physical and mental well-being.

Course structure

The course is 2 lessons in class followed by case studies completed at home with lifetime support and feedback.

Following the training, you will be required to submit 6 case studies to show that you have retained and practiced the training. Your certification which is fully accredited with ABT will be awarded to you once you have successfully passed those. As any learning experience, you will only get as good as the effort you put in and we will be behind you to help you get the best out of yourself!

Course content

UK legislation: 

• Understanding legal requirements and regulations relevant to massage therapy practice in the UK.

UK health & safety: 

• Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards to maintain a safe environment for clients and therapists.

Anatomy: 

• Learning about the structure and function of the human body, including muscles, bones and organs.

Contraindications & contra-actions: 

• Identifying conditions or circumstances where massage may be unsuitable or require caution.

Client consultation: 

• Conducting thorough assessments to understand clients' needs, preferences and medical history.

Client aftercare: 

• Providing guidance and recommendations to clients on post-massage care and maintenance.

Skin analysis: 

• Assessing the skin condition to determine suitable massage techniques and products.

Treatment procedure: 

• Implementing appropriate massage techniques and sequences to address clients' concerns and preferences.

Full body massage: 

• Practising massage techniques to relax and rejuvenate the entire body.

Back massage: 

• Focusing on techniques to relieve tension and promote relaxation in the back area.

Arm massage: 

• Applying massage strokes to the arms to reduce muscle stiffness and improve circulation.

Leg massage: 

• Utilising massage techniques to alleviate leg discomfort and enhance blood flow.

Neck and chest massage: 

• Performing gentle massage movements to ease tension and promote comfort in the neck and chest regions.

Abdomen massage: 

• Employing gentle massage strokes to soothe abdominal discomfort and aid digestion.

Additional information

All students will be required to work on & bring along a model. Models can be provided for a £25 fee.
