VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Beauty Specialist Techniques

This course is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to successfully deliver level 2 beauty treatments.  The course is delivered through a combination of theory and practical sessions, which will enable you to develop your skills in a real-world setting. You will also have the opportunity to work with clients under the supervision of a qualified beauty therapist.

The course is accredited by VTCT, which is a leading organisation in the beauty industry. Upon completion of the course, you will be awarded the VTCT Level 2 Beauty Therapy Certificate, which is recognised nationally and internationally, provides thorough training with less modules, less study hours and less in clinic hours than the Level 2 Diploma.

This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a junior beautician/beauty specialist including: removing hair using waxing techniques, applying make-up, eyelash and eyebrow treatments, manicure, pedicure, facial skincare, client care and health and safety.

You can further develop their understanding and skills by selecting a number of optional specialist units which include: tanning techniques, instructing on make-up application, removing hair using sugaring or threading techniques, eyelash perming, ear piercing and nail art techniques – the full list of optional units is presented in the learner Record of Assessment book (RoA) (specification). This qualification’s structure provides you with the flexibility to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills depending upon your designated career pathway as a junior beautician/beauty specialist.

Course content

• Facial Skincare:
  • Cleansing, exfoliating and moisturising the skin.
  • Performing facial massages and applying masks.
  • Tailoring treatments to individual skin types and conditions.
• Hair Removal with Waxing Techniques:
  • Preparing waxing materials and assessing skin suitability.
  • Performing waxing procedures on various body areas.
  • Ensuring client comfort and applying aftercare advice.
• Eyelash and Brow Treatments:
  • Tinting eyelashes and eyebrows for enhanced definition.
  • Shaping eyebrows through waxing, tweezing or threading.
  • Applying eyelash extensions for added volume and length.
• Make-Up Application:
  • Understanding different makeup products and tools.
  • Creating various makeup looks for different occasions.
  • Enhancing facial features while maintaining a natural appearance.
• Client Care and Communication:
  • Establishing rapport and understanding client preferences.
  • Providing informed advice on beauty treatments and products.
  • Addressing client concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
• Manicure Treatments:
  • Nail shaping, cuticle care and buffing.
  • Applying nail polish and nail art techniques.
  • Offering hand massages for relaxation and hydration.
• Pedicure Treatments:
  • Foot soaking, callus removal and exfoliation.
  • Nail trimming, shaping and cuticle maintenance.
  • Applying nail polish and providing foot massages for relaxation.
• Health and Safety Practices:
  • Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the salon.
  • Adhering to hygiene protocols during treatments.
  • Identifying and managing potential risks to ensure client safety.
