VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Laser and IPL Treatments

The VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Laser and IPL Treatments is a course that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills and theory in the field of IPL and Laser treatments.

To further enhance your practical skills you will have the opportunity to choose from the following practical units; providing massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils, electrical epilation, individual permanent lashes, intimate waxing, spray tan and how to apply self-tan products and nail enhancements.

Within this qualification you will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety, client care and communication and you can also choose to learn about IT and data handling and contributing to the effective running of a beauty therapy business. You will also develop an underpinning knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification.

This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a beauty therapist including: providing body massage, face and body electrotherapy, health and safety and client care.

Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, client care and beauty therapy products and equipment. You will also develop a range of technical skills enabling you to prepare the skin and apply a variety of beauty therapy products and electrical equipment using different techniques. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients. 

This qualification is the only Level 4 qualification offered by VTCT in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments. The VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments is a vocationally related qualification and is focused on reducing hair growth and photo rejuvenation of the skin using intense pulse light and laser treatments. This qualification requires you to develop skills to carry out IPL and laser treatments. This qualification allows you to gather evidence in a realistic working environment or real working environment without the need for fee paying clients.
 

Course content

• Client Care:
  • Conduct thorough consultations to understand client needs and expectations.
  • Provide clear explanations of treatment procedures, benefits and potential risks.
  • Address any concerns or questions clients may have with empathy and professionalism.
  • Ensure clients feel comfortable and informed throughout their treatment journey.
• Laser and Light for Hair Removal:
  • Understand the principles of laser and IPL technology for hair removal.
  • Identify suitable candidates for hair removal treatments based on skin and hair type.
  • Perform patch tests and skin assessments to determine treatment parameters.
  • Administer hair removal treatments safely and effectively, adjusting settings as needed.
• Laser and Light for Skin Rejuvenation:
  • Learn about the mechanisms of laser and IPL therapy for skin rejuvenation.
  • Assess skin conditions such as pigmentation, acne and wrinkles to determine suitable treatments.
  • Select appropriate wavelengths and settings for targeting specific skin concerns.
  • Administer skin rejuvenation treatments with precision and care to achieve desired outcomes.
• Health and Safety:
  • Comprehensively understand health and safety regulations relevant to laser and IPL procedures.
  • Implement strict hygiene protocols to minimise the risk of infection and cross-contamination.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and ensure appropriate safety measures are in place.
  • Provide clients with pre and post treatment care instructions to optimise safety and results.

• 9 hours (x1 full day + x1 1/2 day) per week

At home self-study:
