Basic Hair Cutting

This course is designed to give you all the skills and knowledge to be able to cut and blow-dry hair. It covers the basic shampooing routine and a range of cutting techniques and cutting styles in order to create the perfect look to suit your client, consult, plan and prepare for treatment, to provide the treatment and all aftercare advice.

Course content

• Introduction, Reception and Consultation:
  • Greeting clients, understanding their preferences.
  • Discussing hair concerns and desired styles.
• Anatomy and Physiology of the Hair:
  • Studying hair structure, growth cycles and texture.
• Contra-indications and Contra-actions:
  • Identifying conditions affecting hair health or cutting procedures.
• Preparation for Treatment:
  • Organising tools, assessing client's hair type and ensuring hygiene.
• Shampooing and Conditioning:
  • Proper techniques for cleansing and conditioning hair.
• Cutting Techniques using Scissors:
  • Learning basic cutting methods such as blunt cuts, layers and texturising.
• Aftercare and Maintenance:
  • Providing guidance on maintaining the haircut, using suitable products and scheduling follow up appointments.
